my favorite summer stl event

this is my favorite event to go in the summer. june 3, the missouri botanical garden begins its annual outdoor concert series. on wednesday nights the botanical garden is open late and free concerts are held every week. guests are welcome to picnic, bring drinks and snacks and enjoy the music from almost anywhere in the garden. admissions is free, parking is free, the concert is free, can't beat that!

my mother has long since been a proponent of homeopathy or alternative medicine and i am lucky enough to have had her bestow some of her knowledge on me. for anyone who will be in st. louis in may, this event is going on and i think i'm gonna go check it out.

i came across the designers section of the how magazine blog this morning and i can't stop reading everything. to be honest i can't afford the magazine's subscription and each issue is super over priced. every time i break down and buy one i am disappointed by the content and the over abundance of ads. i highly suggest everyone check the blog out for free! it totally makes me want to be more creative and do more design projects, all of the days. ;)

there are few things i am willing to pay good money for and this lamp, i think, is one of them. about 5 years ago i saw this nesso table lamp in orange in a photo in domino magazine and i fell in love. if i put away $10 each pay check, which is about all i can afford right now, i can have it in about a year and a half. tempting idea...

cinco de mayo!

hola amigos, today is cinco de mayo and in honor of this festive occasion i have decided to share a very special drink recipe with you all, the sangria margarita or as we call it the sangrita. this drink was first tasted by our lovely lucia at chuy arzola's in dog town a few years back and has since been a secret treat of ours. it isn't even on the menu there!

sangria margarita
8oz tequila
12oz margarita mix
2oz rose's lime juice
3oz triple sec
3-5oz sangria

pour the tequila, margarita mix, lime juice and triple sec into an average sized blender filled with crushed ice, and blend well. dip rim of a 16oz margarita glass in the blender to wet, and apply salt if desired. pour the blender mixture into the glass until 2/3 full, add the sangria, and serve.
